Want to Help?

There are a number of ways people can help. Our primary method of fundraising is the Child sponsorship program.

Child Sponsorship

Sponsoring a child at IA means exactly that. All funds go directly into the daily operating costs for the children. $45 per month (tax deductable) goes to feeding clothing and educating that child. Progress reports are provided to sponsors and contact is encouraged. In addition to the financial support sponsored children have the peace of mind and security of knowing someone/somewhere cares enough to provide a future for them. This is an important part of restoring and developing the child’s emotional wellbeing. It is the goal of IA to care for 100 boys in its program and open a girls home.  We need your help to achieve it.  AE is a mobilized, effective team – delivering positive outcomes, not to, but with the African community.

1000 Club

As an alternative to child sponsorship, the 1000 club is a simple and effective way for people to directly support our project at I-Afrika, Kenya. Funding is required to build a girls dormitory and improve infrastructure. To reach the goal of housing and educating 100 children we need your financial support.

HOW IT WORKS - It’s simple. We need 1000 people to commit to $20 per week for one year only. The donation is 100% tax deductable. This is a short/sharp and very effective way to really help these children. Funds can be direct debited on a weekly or monthly basis.

We need people who can go out into their own networks and communities to promote the 1000 club, solicit goods for shipping and generally raise awareness for African Equity and it's projects.

Volunteer Assistance

Another method of involvement is to start a "Drive". Individuals will often start a drive for specific items within their own social network or workplace and act as an agent for African children. If someone encourages all their friends and associates to donate 1 tube of toothpaste a week...-pretty soon we have a lot of toothpaste! We have volunteers who can collect goods from our agents if required. Other examples include, a blanket drive, toothpaste, school exercise books, tools, old mobile phones(very useful in Africa!).

We have individuals who take on an even greater "Franchise" type role with African Equity. We provide administrative support, stationary and promotional material (info packs) which they then circulate through their own social, professional and community networks.

Ultimately to represent African Equity people need to understand exactly what we do or even better to visit Africa and see the entire concept firsthand. We do not generally have a facility send volunteers to work in the projects (essentially anyone going over to provide labour etc is taking someone else's job) but we do regularly take teams of advocates in to experience the projects first hand.On occasion, specialist teams have mobilized themselves and utilized our network to provide medical, dental, teaching visits-generally 2-3 weeks. Australian school groups have also visited the orphanages/projects.

African Equity visits - Truly an amazing experience!

As part of our cultural exchange and understanding program, we can organise a fully managed East African experience. These life changing trips incorporate all that is amazing about Africa. We cater to individuals/families and corporate groups who want to experience the orphanages and surrounding districts at ground level. We have a network of experienced people who organise immunizations /flights /accommodation/visas etc to make it a hassle free trip. Every equity group is accompanied by one of our team from Australia. Stopovers can include Dubai/Singapore/Thailand or South Africa.
